Hands On History invites people young and old to participate in Village life by offering a “Hands On”, interactive, educational and fun experience. “Hands On” is one of the keys to the success of the program. When we make butter we use a paddle-churn and everybody gets a turn churning the butter. Students, teachers and parents alike all rave about this aspect of Hands On History. Making (and sampling) cookies or biscuits in the kitchen of the Jail, sewing beanbags at the Tailor Shop, working with clay at the Pottery Shop, or making a hammer at the Woodturner’s Shop - they are all interactive and “Hands On”.
